Thank you so much for my Boett Rug, I think it needs to be renamed the million dollar wonder rug (I was calling it million dollar cause of the price!) but well worth every penny - it is fantastic. Toby can now stand in the paddock - no kicking or stamping at his belly, his sores are all clearing up and he is a much happier horse to ride too.
It also could not have come at a better time - it has been very hot and humid here with temps around 39 degrees for weeks and the flies were horrible the day the rug arrived. Toby had bleeding sores all down his neck and belly (wearing another make of rug with a hood) and they had just got under the neck rug and had a feast. I had to cancel shows too. But now, after three weeks, he’s looking great, thanks to his Boett.
I would highly recommend it to anybody who has a horse who suffers from fly and midge or mosquito bites. Toby and I thank you very much all the way from here in Australia.

Boett rugs are a godsend! I have used Boett rugs for 8/9 years now and my horse suffered terribly previously with sweet itch. Since wearing the rug the inflammation quickly reduced and over that first spring of trying one he cleared right up. No amount of creams or repellents ever worked in keeping the flies at bay. I also tried other netting-type fly rugs which were rubbish and he ripped them off and tore them in his battle to scratch the itch!
I live in the New Forest where there is a specific biting fly (crab fly) that lands and crawls under most rugs and bites. This was the only one that stopped that horrible things getting to him and triggering a reaction. I have never let my horse near wire fences and have found Boett rugs last for years even when worn constantly. They are great value for money considering all the factors and how tough they are. The fit is also brilliant and never rub my horse. My horse is a 14.3hh very heavyweight cob and I was really pleased to find Boett did a wider style which fitted him without alteration. He has been a very happy itch free horse for the last 8-9years and I would recommend you give the Boett a try. You'll not be disappointed.

I have just ordered my third Boett blanket. I bought my fisrt one in July 2000 and I was so impressed I bought a second in September 2000, so I always had a spare. I have washed them every fortnight throughout the sweet itch season for eleven, YES 11 YEARS! I took the decision to purchase a new one this week, 20th May 2011. My word, what a fabulous product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My little Exmoor pony Withymead Diploma just adores his blanket and on the areas not covered I use the Pure Gold - it is exactly that, PURE GOLD.
I have a very happy, healthy Exmoor and would recommend these products - they are the best blankets ever invented - don't buy copies - get the REAL DEAL and keep your horse or pony happy. Karen Logan, very satisfied customer. p.s. and Withymead Diploma VERY HAPPY ITCH FREE EXMOOR.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you for assisting my horse to have a happier summer. My poor mare seemed to attract more midges and clegg flies than any of my other horses and to add to this when bitten she became swollen and very itchy. I was advised by my vet to try your rug and i just wanted other owners to know that my horse’s quality of life has improved and she no longer needs to be the only horse stuck in a box to allow her relief from flies. Some of my friends commented on the price compared to perhaps another make of fly rug, however in this case it really is the old saying of you get what you pay for!
Fantastic product, you have no idea how lovely it is not to wish for winter.

We ordered a blanket from you on the 7th of July and by early evening on the 8th the blanket was in-place on my daughter’s pony.
Before we purchased the blanket we could not leave her tied up for more than a few seconds before she started rubbing on the post-and-rail fence. She would go into a complete trance and we found it very difficult to pull her back off the fence. The results after we put the blanket on were almost instant - the pony stood quietly munching on her hay, and my daughter couldn’t believe it was the same pony. The distressed look in the pony’s eye vanished and I think if she could of said thanks then she would have done! A big thank-you to all the gang there, at least now our lives will not all be about sweet itch - we will have to find a new topic of conversation!

Hi, my mare Saffron had an acute allergic reaction in 2007 leading to extensive allergy testing and it affected her immune system so badly that a fly only had to land on her for her to suffer huge fluid-filled wheals all over her body. I can't thank Boett enough for her summer skin!! It's not only excellent for Sweet Itch but is the best general all-round insect deterrent I have found. Thank you once again, Michelle and her non-itchy mare Saffron xx

I just wanted to let you know what an amazing success the Boett blanket has been for my little donkey, Fern. Normally by this time of year we are all demented trying to make her feel comfortable. She has an awful time of it during the summer and is irritable and miserable.

The rug has transformed her life and I noticed another change too. Fern has always been a retiring character in the 4 years we’ve had her, never seeking much contact and quite fearful at times, it seemed.

I am a Tellington TTouch Practitioner for companion animals and have also done my first equine week. In TTouch we often use wraps (like stretchy bandages) or closely fitting t-shirts for dogs and other animals who are worried or fearful and these can make a huge difference. They provide comfort and security and help with self awareness among other benefits. I put the rug on Fern the first evening with no difficulty and let her get used to it. The next day, when I went up to see her and her two buddies, she came straight over and stood beside me and remained for ages while I petted her – and she was enjoying it! Well, things have gone from strength to strength and she seems to be much more confident, frequently seeking attention and looks for contact. Her general demeanour has changed and I’m convinced this is due to the rug.

The vet came to see one of the other donks this week and she was surprised when Fern came up and stood next to us while we chatted!

So, I am a big fan of the Boett rug in more ways than one! A great product. Thank you.

Good evening, I'm Ingrid from Italy, my horse Yuma and I are so happy to have your Boett Blanket. The size is perfect. Now is November, but we have 15°C with much rain and there are a lot of midges.
So we thank you very much and kind regards. Ingrid

Hi Alison
Many thanks for the rug - it arrived first thing this morning.
Master Harry looks very smart in his new rug - the rug and bonet both fit really well - the emailed photos as well as his measurements were worth the trouble!
I expected a 2 yr old like him to make a bit of a fuss having all this lot put on - but he took it in his stride as if it was something he had had put on a thousand times before!

This is my 5th horse/ pony that has worn one of your Boett blankets - I am always pleased with your prompt service and design improvements to both the rugs and bonets that I have seen over the 7 years of keeping horses with sweet itch! - this time I see the webbing slot band on the spine is attached differently adding robustness to the rug.

Many thanks, Fiona (and horses/ponies Master Harry, Harriet, Swallow, Sam and Georgie - all have benefited!)

I've just been tidying up my email, & on reading this I do not remember contacting you to say thank you for sending the free elastic. The rug was repaired & is now keeping the majority of horse flies at bay!

Thanks again for your excellent service together with an excellent product.

Thank you so much for your very prompt service. The blanket arrived on Monday, 6 July. My horse Murphy, a 16.3 hh TB gelding which I brought over from England last year, is now on his third Boett blanket, the last one having lasted 5 years! Having moved to Southern Spain I did wonder if the blanket would be too hot for him but its breathable fabric is absolutely fine and, with temperatures currently 40 degrees C, he sweats very little. Although he does not actually have sweetitch he does suffer from insect bites and wearing the Boett Blanket certainly prevents him from coming up in the nasty lumps he used to suffer from. I have recommended the Boett Blanket to various people over here in Spain and use Murphy as a model for anyone who wants to see it in action. Kind regards Mary-Jane Wright

My beloved horse Floss is a sweet itch sufferer. I had tried several rugs for sweet itch (the worst in my view was the Rambo Sweet Itch Hoodie). However my partner was looking at sweet itch rugs on the internet when he came across the Boett Blanket. When I placed the order for the Boett Blanket I was asked to telephone The National Sweet Itch Centre, where I spoke with a really lovely & so very helpful lady called Alison. She wasn’t just selling a rug to me, she really cared about my horse’s welfare as much as I do, how many other companies can you say that about when you buy a rug?? Customer service was second to none - I have nothing but praise & good words to say about the Centre.
When the rug arrived it was a perfect fit, the fitting instructions made it so easy & quick to fit & Floss didn’t object one bit to wearing it or having it fitted. I would strongly recommend any horse owner living with the distress of sweet itch to invest in the Boett Blanket, it may seem expensive but it's worth every penny. Floss will never wear another rug for Sweet Itch apart from the Boett. And to add to that, you know that you can phone the National Sweet Itch Helpline for any support you may need.
Again, I have nothing but total trust in the Boett Blanket & the caring staff, especially Alison. If you love your horse & want to relieve his/her sweet itch please, buy yourself a Boett Blanket It's an amazing, unique rug that works - what else can I say? Thank you to everyone at the Sweet Itch Centre (especially Alison), from Caroline and a much happier Floss.

Many thanks for sending the second rug which has been safely received.
I am very impressed with the quality and detail of the rugs and I am sure they will provide excellent protection for my horse’s sweet itch.

Once again, thank you for your help and advice.

Many thanks for sending me the Boett blanket, shampoo etc… I’ve been using it for a few days along with the pure gold ointment and spray gold and already it’s making a huge difference.
I wanted to write to thank you as it’s very rare to find a website that genuinely offers sound advice. I also found it incredibly helpful to talk to someone from your company on the telephone who was willing to assist.
The rug fits perfectly and my horse is much happier as a result of it. I’m just praying for a longer mane now, which only time can help with.
Thanks once again.

I have just received my annual(some years I even get two)package from Boett-as my 15 year old Friesian mare, who suffers from severe sweet-itch, lives with an ex-racehorse who thinks he's still a stallion and likes pulling her about the field with the rug in between his teeth! Despite this maltreatment the rugs last well and there is nothing (believe me!) that comes even close to the efficiency of the Boett. Boett even have a rug specific for the Friesian breed (size 7)! Durke and I thank you so much for making our lives bearable.

I bought my Shetland pony her second Boett rug last year and this new product is FANTASTIC. The first rug which I bought her in 2004 she ripped to pieces within one day and you very kindly 'botched' it for me. This new product, although Skye has done everything she can to rip it, has remained intact and looks as good as when it was delivered to me last year. So many thanks and I look forward to another 'itch free' pony.

After purchasing a horse, just over 12 months ago, with sweet itch and knowing very little about this condition, I was pleased to hear about the National Sweet Itch Helpline. They told me how to make my horse's condition more bearable for him by purchasing a Boett rug, and its the best rug i've ever bought. My horse is so much happier when out in the field, no matter what the weather, thanks to the Boett. He wears it 24/7 , and can't wait to get back in it when its removed. The Spray Gold liquid has also helped my horse and bathing in your shampoo too. I've recommended Boett rugs to a few people on the same yard and they have seen results for themselves. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

Well what can I say - what a fab rug! My horse developed slight sweet itch last summer and I tried all different lotions but nothing seemed to work. So I purchased the new Boett and hood and my horse now has a better quality of life and is much happier in her work. Her mane even had to be pulled this year and she won her first showing class. I can not explain enough how good this rug really is and, yes, it does "exactly what it says on the packet" It may seem a lot to purchase at first but when you see how quickly it works its worth every penny.

We have had two Boett rugs from you for our famous show cob, Tellytubbs. Although now aged 13, thanks to your rugs he leads a normal life, competing in show jumping and working cob classes and he is still very much in the lime-light. I don’t know what he would do without his Boetts!

We have a pony who has suffered for years with sweet itch - he has had several wonderful Boett rugs. This year our other pony has had sweet itch for the first time - we think the wet weather hasn't helped. She has been rubbing her hind quarters raw so we thought a Boett rug must be purchased for her. So we telephoned yesterday Monday 30th July and ordered rug for her. At about 9 am on Tuesday 31st July a delivery van pulled up at our house and the rug had arrived - WOW! We now have two very happy ponies. A huge, huge thank you to you all - we don’t know what we'd do without your rugs and the fantastic service you give.

I would just like to say how pleased i am with my Boett Blankets. The first one for my husband’s heavy cob is still going strong 6 years on and does a fantastic job. I was put off buying one for my lad as he hates things going over his head and suffers terribly from static, i was at the end of my tether with various fly rugs either being a terrible fit, tight on the shoulder or producing so much static there would be loud crackling when i took them off. I decided give a Boett a go and cannot believe how fantastic it is. There were a few fitting problems at first (he is very deep through the shoulder but quite short backed ) but with advice and various bits of elastic and fleece supplied free of charge (and received the next day ) i soon got it right and my beautiful dapple grey boy has a full mane which now lays flat (another bonus!!)and is CLEAN all the time (yet another bonus !!) ..........and he actually puts his head down to have the rug put over his head (o.k. , so the Polo helps as bait but i would never have believed I could have done it so easily!!) I am now going to have a go at making a "nappy" for our mare as described in another feedback as I have some spare material, oh yes, and there is NO static at all.......BRILLIANT product, best thing i have bought for years, many thanks.

Well done Boett, I would just like to say i bought my first Boett last week, as my Welsh Section D "Thrift" suffered terrible bites. He sustained bites to his face, neck, chest, under-belly and some of these bites where egg size, very nasty, sore and itchy. His mane has broken away too. If he hadn’t have been my horse I would have thought he had been neglected. Because his reaction to bites is so severe I was at my wits end. So when I was told about the Boett by a friend who new someone that has been using them for some time, we went on line and read all the information,
On the Friday morning I took his measurements and rang up The Sweet Itch Centre. They where so helpful and I received my Boett the following Monday 9am. By 11 am it was on Thrift and he was back out with his mates after a week’s stabling.
The bites have healed and hair is growing after two weeks of wearing it. We still have to wait for his mane to grow, but the results so far are great. The pesky midges can’t bite him like they did. So one happier horse and Owner. Thanks Boett you are worth the money!

Just writing to say that buying a Boett Rug was the best thing I did for my young horse. His whole attitude has changed and he is calmer and obviously more comfortable. His back is a lot less sensitive now, so I can start to back him later in the year. All signs of rubbing have diminished and Mouse hasn’t even tried to get it off at all. In fact I can take it on and off with him loose in the field. Thank you!!!!
P.s. it’s Mouse’s third birthday today!!! YEY

I must say a big thank you from me and Rocky for the very quick delivery of the Boett blanket, hood, shampoo and midge sprays. As soon as they were delivered I went straight up and gave Rocky a bath and put his new rug on. Rocky is only two but as soon as the warm weather came all he did was itch anywhere possible and rubbed his beautiful mane and tail out - he was really suffering. Rocky has only had the rug on for three days but has not been rubbing at all and it has made a huge difference to his well being as he can just enjoy being out with his mates. The Boett blanket is worth the money as I have a much happier horse that won’t be tortured by the flies and midges. Thank you again as it has lifted a weight off my mind knowing my horse is not suffering anymore. Lauren and Rocky

Before getting the Boett my pony’s life was miserable and because of that I hated summer. I couldn't wait for winter to get here because I knew that all the midges would not be around. I used a fly rug which helped but he got sweaty all the time and when the rain came the rug was so heavy and wouldn’t dry in time for the next morning, Plus the neck sleeve would twist around ALL the time so didn't cover him. I HAD to make sure I got home in time from wherever I was to bring him in before the midges came out fully, and if i didn't i would become very worried and concerned for him and this drew my parents up the wall. Having to make sure we came home from loved ones extra early just to get my pony in his stable. My pony had broken 2 fences and a gate which we replaced but he still nearly snapped the new one. So I knew I HAD to do something about it. Reading on everything to try and make his life better, Slapping on NAF off cream Every morning made his hair gooey and hard, It helped him though but just not enough. Then I noticed someone on "youtube" had a pony that had sweet itch and they had this "Boett rug". Seeing that the pony was able to jump and do everything normally whilst wearing this rug. We then got told about this Bo-ett rug by the lady who came to clip my pony. So then i got on the internet and started searching. I came on here looked at ALL the comments and photos and decided to get one because having tried everything else i was lost for ideas. And needed help for him soon! I Purchased it about 4 months ago and what can I say it’s changed my ponies life! This is a god send for my pony! He is in better condition has more of a mane now and is starting to look like his breed should instead of having this little short gappy mane! He started rubbing his shoulders and top of his bottom so he had these horrid area of no hair and its all starting to grow back and he looks amazing! I can ride him without it on in the day because he doesn’t rub anymore because his Sweet itch was also a habit. In the evening we are better to ride him with it on because there are far more midges. My pony can gallop, canter, trot, walk, jump and buck!, without any restriction! He is thankfully now enjoying his life and I will be showing him! It has rained a lot here and to my surprise the rug shelters my pony from most of the rain! It dries quickly as well and I don’t have to worry about midges anymore! And that’s a load off my shoulders!

We bought a Boett rug for our Section ‘A’ pony (Gelert). What a difference a week can make in one of your rugs, he has stopped itching and now enjoying being out with his mate. He also smells lovely with Avon skin-so-soft sprayed on his leg and ears daily.
(Note: many owners find ‘Skin-so-Soft an effective repellent but we do recommend a 1:1 dilution with water before application. As with all lotions, do a patch test on a small area first to check for any allergic reaction before using more widely – Jennifer Greaves)

I purchased a Boett Blanket 2 months ago and it has been a God send! I live in Spain and my poor P.R.E gelding, Mango, rubbed the entire bottom section of his mane out and the top of his tale, his hind legs were rubbed roar and he had bloody soars all over. He had no twinkle in his eye, as his days consisted mainly of trying to itch away the irritating flies. Now we have none of those problems! His mane and tail are growing back extremely quickly and he stopped rubbing straight away! He has no qualms about putting the Boett on (I'm sure he counts the seconds until it's covering him again!) and the spark in him is back! I don't have to worry about lotions and treatments and buying yet another itch rug (That may actually work.) He's happy to wonder around his field, munching grass, in the scorching sun, amongst flies all day long! And I'm happy for that and soooo thankful to the Boett Blanket!! If you're in the same position, I'd recommend it 1000 times over!

I live in Spain and have a black Andalucian mare with sweet itch. She is a nervous character due to poor previous ownership and, to be honest, I really thought that trying to put a Boett on her was going to be a nightmare - given that you have to get the horse into it via a sort of polo neck!! Anyway I just want to say that if anyone has the same concerns – don’t worry. I was told by a member of the Sweet Itch Team that the horse learns that the blanket is good for them and will want to wear it. I was like - YEH I bet!!! But given that nothing else was working - and that sweet itch is a year round problem in our climate - I had to give it a go.
My mare loves it and we are nearing the end of the first year of using the Boett. She wears it at all times except when ridden, being groomed or when it is in the washing machine. When she is not wearing it and we have to put it back on she literally runs up to me and pushes her own head into it. It took her only a couple of days for her to do this! She is equally keen to put her face mask on as well, which is put on a bit like a balaclava.
Her mane is growing and she is generally happier. As she was so hard to catch I believe her behaviour when she wants the blanket on is even greater proof that horses really do like wearing it and understand the benefits. I would recommend the Boett 100%

I just want to say to anyone that is struggling with sweet itch (and we all know what that is like!)and is browsing this site, do yourself and your horse a favour and get him a boett!! I am about to order a second Boett for my pony Taffy. He suffered horrendously with sweet itch for years and I tried every lotion, potion, supplement and fly rug, all to no avail. People at shows used to ask me why I had 'hogged' my native Welsh pony- I hadn't, he had done it himself on fence posts and walls!!! I distinctly remember being at the stables at about 10pm one summer evening, just hosing down his neck because it was so hot and inflamed. Anyway, he has now had a Boett for about 6 years and it has changed both of our lives completely. I know that sounds dramatic but it is true. At first glance they seem expensive, but they really are not for what you get out of them (6 years wear is not bad!!)Taffy is now a happy pony in summer and I am a happy owner!

What a fantastic product! I have been using Boett blankets on my sportshorse stallion for 5 years now and he is still enjoying a much better quality of life. People viewing him for stud use always comment on how good his coat looks and how much mane and tail he has. We wouldn't ever be without one now. I have one as a spare and one in use at all times.Thank you Boett!

Poppy has had a Boett for the past 5 years and it has transformed her - she can actually graze in peace now and she has a full mane and tail and her coat is the best it has looked since she has had one of these rugs. She couldn’t live without it and it is the best thing I have brought for her. I can honestly say it is worth every penny. Money well spent - so if your horse or pony suffers with sweet itch get them one of these rugs with no delay.

I bought a Boett rug for my pony last year, which has been fantastic, it has been the making of her. Last summer she was much happier and her coat has been fantastic. So many people have commented on how well she looked and the transformation in her! Having been hogged when I first had her, she now has a full mane. We were even able to enter our first show last year and came 6th!
Thank you for an excellent product.

I think this year's rug is far superior to the original, in both fabric and design. I particularly like the fact that the neck stays put and does not fall back down.

I just wanted to add to the positive comments regarding the Boett Blanket and hood. Toby has had his most comfortable summer ever, and I have had the most worry-free! As an added bonus his white bits have never been so clean (he's a skewbald) or his coat so silky. It was certainly money well spent.

I would just like to thank you for all your help and assistance with my Shetland Pony. I purchased a Boett Blanket two months ago for my Shetland Pony, who had severe sweet itch sores on his main and tail and the advice and help you gave me was fantastic. Since he has had the blanket on it has transformed his life. He no longer has the sores and he is back to his usual happy self.
The Boett Blanket was worth every penny. Many thanks again for your help.

Hello Boett Office, I have a 25 year old mare who I have owned for 22 years. She has always suffered from sweet-itch. I have been able to limit the damage with traditional methods (Sprays, long lasting repellents, benzyl benzoate etc.,) but they have not been entirely successful. In the days when she was competing, getting a nice set of plaits from her mane was certainly a challenge! I am sorry to have to admit that until this year I had been too mean to spend 'all that money' on a Boett Rug. How wrong I was! This year I have had a happy horse and she is looking the best for years. At the moment she is in the most fabulous show condition and as a bonus she has an amazing mane and tail. I am sure her condition is attributable to her contentedness. She has even become affectionate, which, if you knew her, you would say is 'extraordinary.' I did not order a hood with the rug because I didn't think she needed one (meannie me!). I was wrong again. When it arrived it was a fantastic fit and I my Royal Imp looks rather cute in it. This summer for me has been fantastic. I haven't spent anything on all those treatments and not had to suffer the regime of making sure that I was always there to apply them. If I want to go away for a few days, my helper only has to check her instead of 'trying' to catch her and go through the performance of sprays and lotions. Its all wonderful for Royal and me, thank you Boett. Its the best investment on anything I have ever bought for the horses. I recommend the Boett Rug to anyone - if your horse/pony has sweet itch, buy the Boett, even if it means living on bread and jam for a few weeks!

I just want to say how amazing the Boett blanket is. My bay cob has had a lovely summer and I’m having to pull his now beautiful main. I remember last year when all that was there was skin. I can’t thank you enough for recommending it. It is fantastic. Yasmin.

This is just a quick thank you to you and your team for sending me the Pure Gold Ointment and the Shampoo - what a difference it has made to Darcy.
Also special thanks for sending the piece of Boett material. I made a 'nappy; yes a nappy for Darcy (my mare). I stitched the material to the far end of the Boett belly wrap, taking it through her back legs, round to each side of her hind legs and clipped it to her Boett. It has completely stopped the midges biting her most sensitive area, it has worked a treat, no more rubbing her belly on the ground and no more sores.
You MUST tell others and market the 'nappy' widely, happy to talk to anyone thinking of making a nappy.....it has made such a difference...so thank you very much for helping!!
[Brenda - thank you for your suggestion and 10/10 for ingenuity!
In fact Boett do provide an attachable cover along similar lines, which we are happy to supply (free of charge) to any Boett owner whose mare is affected on the udder]

I would just like to say a HUGE thankyou to Boett for the arrival of the Second Generation Boett rug and most importantly the Second Generation Hood. This is the first year that my pony has not itched all the hair off his eyelids! What a wonderful fly hood! After using the Boett rugs for the last two years his mane and tail are so long i'm going to have to pull them so that I can plait him up for the shows! Once again, many thanks for the wonderful products and the excellent service from the Sweet Itch Helpline

Thank you so much for making Zak's life so much better this year. Zak came to us three years ago with a Boett rug and hood and although it helped a lot, he still continued to experience some degree of irritation from sweetitch, especially around his head. Since fitting him with the latest suit and new hood, his life has become so much more bearable. His coat is glossy and sleek with no bald or sore patches and he has a much more laid back and happy outlook on life. I cannot recommend this product highly enough, not only with the quality of the product that eases so much suffering but also the high standard of your service and sympathetic advice. Many thanks

Hi, just sending a very late 'thank you' for the excellent Boett blanket. I have been using the blanket on my coloured show cob called 'Woodstock' for the past 5 years. Without the blanket he would be a horrible sight and not have qualified for the Royal International Horse Show 4 times, he was also British Skewbald and Piebald Association (BSPA) Novice of the year 2002, and BSPA Cob Champion and BSPA reserve supreme in-hand 2003! Thank you once again for the rug and the very helpful people on the end of the phone. Jenny and Woody.

Hello I have received the boett rug yesterday and my mare seemed to be fine in it overnight.I have to say it fitted well and I am very hopeful it will do its job.I have two other rugs and the boett did not make me feel as sad for her as they do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed I will let you know how she fares.

We ordered a Boett blanket a couple of months ago. It is absolutely the finest horse product I have ever ordered. The horse that needed the blanket has been a wreck in previous summers. No mane, no tail, and bad behavior because he was an itching, nervous wreck. I cannot say enough good things about the blanket. It has literally changed his life. He does not like us to take it off to wash it! I am so thankful that I happened to pick up a book that talked about the blanket.

I just want to thank you for the quick and efficient delivery of my new rug. t was very easy to fit and after only two weeks of having it Ruby already seems happier. Thanks again - your rug has been a life-saver.

I have just received my order for the new Boett blanket and I just wanted to say how pleased I am with it. It fits Hijo perfectly and the new light grey colour looks much cooler than the previous brown one he had. The new adjustments in between his front legs are much, much better.
Thank you so much and I look forward to the hoods arriving.

Dear Horses Etc,
Just wanted to say thank you for the very prompt delivery of my blanket. It fits perfectly, thanks to your advice, and was much easier to fit than it first appeared. It is such a relief to know she'll be protected during the summer.
Thanks again.

I have a 31 year old gelding who has suffered with Sweet Itch since the age of 5. Last year I invested in a Boett rug for him and he was so much better he has a mane and tail to be proud of, in fact I am thinking of pulling his tail to make his dock more comfortable for him as the hairs are a bit unruly now.
I just wanted advice before speaking with my vet: would it be a feasible (vaccine)trial for an aged horse to go through, he is in general good health and can still put in the occasional buck when he wants.

[Answer: Anne - There is no reason at all why he should be excluded from the trial - in the 90+ horses that came here to the Centre last year for their three injections the only observed ill effect was a very slight swelling at the point of injection (on the neck) in some horses, which disappeared after a week or two].

Thank you for the latest edition of Sweet Itch News. Unfortunately I had to find a new home for my pony last year, so no longer need to be on your mailing list. I passed on your details to Teddy's new owner, so no doubt
they will be in touch at some point in the future.

Initially, the buyer was put off by his sweet itch, but having spent some time with Teddy decided it was a POSITIVE thing - Teddy is a very 'interactive' pony because he is always explaining to people exactly where
he is itchy and his new owners love scratching him!

Thank you for all your help and support over the past five years. Teddy is a very happy pony and has a wonderful white Haflinger mane and tail - all thanks to the Boett!

I moved to Australia and bought my Welsh Cob with me. In the UK he suffered with sweet itch and had 2 Boett rugs. Whilst sweet itch is not prevalent here, flies and extreme heat are, and the Boett rug has proved to be a great asset. Not only is he protected from the relentless flies but he has kept cool even in the 40degs C that we are having. My horsey friends and even my vet are impressed with the rug, maybe you should think about getting them out here somehow. I am going to order the new silvery white one.’

Kind regards,

I bought my first Boett rug 7 years ago and wouldn’t be without it. My horse wears it from March to December and has no midge problems at all. The cost of the rug is offset by not having to spend money and hours with fly spray, special shampoo and soothing lotions”.
Jackie Stagg

I am on my second blanket - my pony has worn his blankets for the last seven years and it has stopped him from taking his skin off, right down to the bare flesh. As he is an Arab he also has a long flowing mane but without his blanket, he would only have stubble. Definitely good value and wouldn’t be without it.
Nina Peake

I have a mare that uses Boett rug. It is the only thing that works – I have tried all the rest.

The Boett is the easiest, most time and cost effective way of managing Sweet-Itch. Everything else is such a faff!
L. Everson

Best thing I ever bought!

Very Effective. Lottie won her class at our local show, looking great with full mane and tail.

Thanks to the Boett we have a tail this year!! Thank You.

Have a young horse with the “itch” & the rug has been a life saver!!

Thank you so much for transforming my horse’s quality of life. I now own a happy, contented horse from Feb to Nov, rather than an uncomfortable, irritable one! I recommend time and time again.

This is definitely THE best product on the market. I would buy one even if my horse did not suffer with Sweet-Itch!

Wonderful product - well tried & tested! Kept coat Sweet-Itch free. No coat fading either

This rug has changed Penny’s life, she now has hair on her chest & tail & a mane. This is the only thing for Sweet-Itch.
Anne Pollard

This rug has been a life saver for my Welsh x Gelding who suffered so badly we were considering having him put down. We are now competing Elementary Dressage all year round.

This is the first year I have controlled my horse’s Sweet-Itch. -Thank you Boett.
I have tried everything on the market for Sweet-Itch. Boett is the only thing that works.
Jenny Fitzpatrick.

Couldn’t be without these rugs. The only answer to Sweet-Itch.

Best rugs on the market.

We have been using the Boett Blanket for many years- pony has not been sore at all - no ointment used - would not be without it.

Had our Boett Blanket for 2yrs, it has made “Sailors” life so much better. Thank you.

Boett Rug has meant a mane and tail - excellent!!

Our shire horse goes nuts without his Boett- he literally DIVES into it after it comes out of the wash. He looks like a big clown but is infinitely happier and more comfortable in it than out. Thanks

Would have been impossible to keep our two Fell Ponies without Boett Rugs.. The results are amazing. Thank you so much from all of us.

Information Sheet No. 4 – Donkey ailments
“At the Donkey Sanctuary, we also use Boett rugs, as a preventative measure against sweet itch, with great success. The fibre, used to make the rugs is so tightly woven it does not allow the midge to bite through the fabric. Being light and breathable, the rug ensures the donkey keeps cool, whilst also lessening the chance of being bitten.”

Please let Michelle know that our blanket arrived in Canada this week. Thought you would be interested in how our Arabian gelding, Jahan, took to his new look.
Yesterday we tried the blanket on for the first time and it happened to be one of the worst midge days we have had so far this year. Jahan was incredibly aggravated by the midges and would not stand still because he was so bothered by the swarm. When the blanket was on (a very simple procedure and the blanket fitted him perfectly) we put him back in his pasture for a couple of hours.
We then removed the blanket and he went for a nice, hard workout (he is an endurance horse so it is not a walk in the park!). He came back quite warm and a bit sweaty now that he has a fair start on his winter coat. When the saddle was removed and he saw the Boett blanket, he stood rock still - no halter needed- and waited calmly for the blanket to be secured. He had already figured out that the blanket gave him tremendous relief from those nasty bugs!!
He obviously has no idea how funny he looks to us when he has the face mask on, as he seems quite proud of his new outfit. Regardless, we are thrilled with the immediate relief that the blanket has provided and are confident that this will be the best solution for a problem that has been so disheartening to deal with this past summer. A big thank-you, especially to Michelle, for helping us to select the right size and for arranging the shipment to Canada.

Thank you for sending me my Boett rug this spring. I fitted it straight away and my TB X Welsh mare has worn it throughout the summer. Unlike last year (her first with me) she has been itch free and she has boasted a full mane and tail. I have also used the recommended fly repellent at the same time and probably became a little blasé: This weekend I risked turning her out without replacing the rug after I had ridden. I could not believe the state she got into. She charged around the field, frantically rubbed herself against the tree and the gate and came in with a fuzzy mane and tail. When I gathered up the neck of the rug, to put it back on, she thrust her head into it and wriggled with pleasure as I pulled it around her.

Many thanks!

I bought a Boett rug from you back in April for my 14.2hh that suffers from sweet itch and I have been impressed with it this year - for the first time in many years he has a mane and tail. He still gets very scabby and itchy though on his canon bones - any ideas would be gratefully received.
Also, I have a friend who has emigrated to Cyprus and has a Shetland out there who has started with sweet itch - she has asked me to ask you if she can get Shetland size Boett rugs please. Thank you for your help.

[Anne, I suggest you try our 'Pure Gold' ointment to provide a greasy barrier on his canons - we find it is very effective there.
No problem with the Shetland blanket to Cyprus - we have supplied several Boetts to the RDA centre at the RAF base in Akrotiri over the years and they have reported back very positively, with no over-heating (in fact they placed a repeat order this summer).
Best wishes, Jennifer.

We have two of your Boett Blankets, which are invaluable to us and have prevented so much Sweet Itch damage and suffering.
Unfortunately our Fell pony has stood on her belly cover clip and broken it. Would it be possible to purchase the large belly flap clips, as well as the elastic that they are attached to?

[Mrs Hardy – the clip and an elastic insert have been posted today, with our compliments. Best wishes, Jennifer].

Hello Mrs Greaves
What your website states rings so true for the horse I am currently riding. However, I want to know if sweat that appears under the bridle will cause further irritation and hence hair loss? My horse only seems to get hair loss in the areas that she sweats, particularity her face. In the paddock she has a fly mask on so I cannot attribute it to the midges. Should I be rinsing off her face everytime I ride? Many thanks and kind regards, Julia, South Africa.

[Julia, It is uncommon, but not unheard of, for a horse to be allergic to his/her own sweat - in fact we have the same problem with one of our own mares (who suffers from sweet-itch too). We do as you suggest, wash down all sweat areas after riding and this does control the problem. If the problem persists please do not hesitate to contact
us again. Michelle.]

I have a 6 year old ID X TB 16.3hh who is going mad itching and I've tried giving him garlic and plastering him with citronella, to no avail. My vet recomended the Boett rug - can you let me know the approx size that I would need to order and the cost of the rug?

[Tracey,He would more than likely be a size 8, but we would like two measurements from you before you ordered. They are explained on our web site at www.sweet-itch.com The price for a size 8, incl. delivery and VAT, is £165.32.

Just a quick note to say thank you so much for the Boett Blanket which I bought from you for my horse, Arnie. He has been wearing it for less than two weeks and the difference is truly amazing. I had got to my wits end
with what to do with him - his mane was slowly being rubbed out and the farrier had just diagnosed traumatic laminitis as a result of him stamping his hooves on the hard ground to get rid of the flies. On top of this, his
ridden work was started to be affected, as the soreness on his poll was causing him to feel discomfort when asked to work 'correctly.'

I have to say that your team are excellent - friendly, knowledgeable and reassuring despite my constant questions. The rug arrived within 24 hours of being despatched and the team quickly exchanged the hood, which was initially too large. There was also help at hand when I needed advice on a couple of issues and Arnie now has a customised rug and is the happiest horse on the yard.
It gave me huge satisfaction when I went out to check on
him and his fieldmate this morning - his mate was swishing his tail to keep the flies at bay, but Arnie was the picture of peacefulness, head down grazing and fully contented.
Thank you from Arnie and I - we are truly grateful.

I am now into my second Boett rug and have to say that it has made my horse's life so much more comfortable. Being a gelding, with many repairs, I have found that a rug
will last two years - he wears it 24 hours a day no matter the weather. He is out during the day but in at night.

I keep my horse at livery and although the fields are mainly post & rail / electric fencing there is a small amount of barbed wire to contend with. I have found that the area most susceptible to damage (due to the barbed wire) is the neck and chest.
After destroying the neck and chest of the first rug we patched the area with a remnant of fabric from a turn out rug. This was most successful although difficult to
do on a home sewing machine. Of note, this did not make him overheat/sweat. The first rug is now a spare and once he went into the second rug, guess where the first
repairs have had to be made. I did try to find a rug repair person to put a tear resistant patch on the rug prior to him wearing it but due to the circular shape of the neck I was told it was not possible.

Consequently, you may wish to consider producing a Boett rug with rip resistant fabric covering the front of the neck and chest for those of us who are unfortunate to
have to contend with barb wire fencing. Whilst I realize that this will not stop damage it will prolong the life of the rug. I for one would be prepared to pay a little more!
Regards, Julie Thwaites & Spanky Do Sparky.

[Julie - thanks for your feedback. We do know that several owners in a similar barbed-wire situation have prolonged the life of the blanket by fastening a strong fabric or even a suede patch to the lower front of the neck piece - it can be done and it does work well. We have a list of rug repairers who should be able to help. Regards, Jennifer]

Dear All

I would just like to say what a lovely summer we are having and what a happy pony I have. Last summer I invested in a Boett. Not knowing much about these wonderful rugs I was very sceptical. The Boett is so easy to use and also to clean. This year with the summer being extremely warm I asked my vet for a little advice. He advised me to get some fly treatment called deosect. You need to get from your local veterinary clinic. With both things combined I have an extremely happy pony. I hope you will be able to pass this info onto other sweet itch sufferers. I do know you have your own fly treatments but feel this deosect is an alternative. My pony is able to be without the Boett throughout the day. She only wears it from dusk till dawn when midges are at the worst. My vet also explained to me that he sees far more sweet itch cases in overweight ponies. Hope you find cure soon. Keep up the wonderful work

Thank you, Samantha Thompson and Lady Inka

Hello.
I have recently bought two Boett blankets and hoods for my two sweet itch sufferers.
The results were more than amazing.
The first one I bought was only a mild sufferer, and from the day he has had it on he has not itched once, and the hair is growing back rapidly.
The other one was a severe case, and would itch 24 hours a day, so much so she was unrideable as the sores on her wither were bleeding.I had tried almost every remedy on the shelves costing me £100's of pounds.
I put it on and turned her out with much trepidation and I was amazed that she has not itched one bit, not even a rub!
I had heard good reports about the blankets, but one is slightly sceptical about "wonder products" but I have living proof that they REALLY do work and work from the day you put them on! and they are easy to put on, there are no messy creams, sprays or lotions and the ponies seem really quite comfortable in them.It also means they can be turned out 24/7 instead of many trips to the yard each day for turning out and bringing in.
Thank you very very much ,I cannot thank you enough for making summers much more pleasant for me and my ponies.
Best Regards Audra Hampton (Tilly and Tardy too!!)

I brought a boett blanket for my pony from you last year.

I am pleased to say that he is really happy in it and it has made his life so much more pleasant in the summer.

Unfortunately, this weekend he has managed to break one of the large clips, which fastens the piece of the blanket around his tummy.
Do you know where l might be able to get a replacement, as l can sew it on. Do you sell these separately?

I bought my Boett at the end of last summer (2004) ready to use this Spring (2005). I put the Boett blanket on Darcy just as the weather turned and the midges arrived. I first put her neck and blankett on and this week I have put on the Boett Hood, and what a difference it has made!

Darcy suffers from mild sweet itch, it's was only mild as I use to spend hours and hours washing and spraying her, sometimes travelling to and from the yard three times a day! Darcy use to be so upset by the midges but now she is totally relaxed.....I really can't believe the difference it has made in just two weeks. No more sprays, just on the tops of her legs, hardly any washing etc, her coat is shiny ...it's just great! Leaving her in the field isn't such a worry anymore and I only need to visit the year twice a day!

Although it took me while to save up the money to purchase the rug it's truly worthwhile. I had already invested in electric fencing all round our fields/paddocks to stop Darcy rubbing so this should now just protect the Boett......again Thanks!

Despite trying to destroy the midges natural habitat, and boosting our horses immune systems (it helps them heal faster from the attacks but doesn't prevent them), we are again loosing the summer war with sweet itch. Two of our 4 horses suffer from this. So this year, we've ordered in a Boett Blanket. We put one on my mare Fetra a week ago and have already seen a vast improvement. Our experience is that once these bites become open and bleeding they just attract more midges and it's just downhill from there. During the few days that Fetra has had the blanket on, not only does it seem to have prevented more biting, but the previous sores are now closed and healing. We were concerned that the blankets might be too hot for our climate (Saudi Arabia), and on checking during the day she was sweating under the blanket. While the recomendation is to wear the blanket 24/7 we are choosing to remove the blanket while she is in her stall. Our horses are in during the hottest part of the day in summer, in stalls which are ventillated by industrial fans, creating an environment in which the midge can't fly. During turnout, from dusk till dawn (perfect midge time)she wears the blanket. Even in these few days we've been so pleased with the results that we have ordered a second set (blanket and hood) for our second horse Barghan. We hesitated to order two blankets as they are pricey and wanted to test one first. From the UK a hood and blanket cost about $300 before shipping and handling. The only downside we see at the moment is the ridcule from having a horse that looks like it's member of the KKK!

23 July 2004

Just a few words to express our thanks and gratitude for all your help and advice last Saturday. The information and attention we received from Michelle was second to none and her expertise on sizing and fit cannot be faulted. We returned home on Saturday in torrential rain and managed to find a reasonable window of dryness to attempt an initial fitting, Casper was not fazed by the experience and it was a good sign that all would be well. The following day after a good workout he was washed down and shampooed with the None Allergenic Shampoo, dried off and fitted with the Boett Blanket and Hood this again was a painless operation without any drama. Casper has accepted his Boett and there have been no signs of rolling and ground rubbing which was one of his favourite means of relief, yes he has rolled as all horses do, but no longer out of desperation. H was re-introduced to his friends and after about 1/2 hour of snorting and seeing off all he was back to normal. He no longer follows us round the field and attempts to use us as a mobile rubbing post nor charges from end to end in an attempt to outrun those pesky midges and he certainly seems to be more contented and at ease. The Gold Spray is working well for all the exposed areas and his sores are well on the way to recovery already. Many thanks again for all your expert help and advice. We will certainly be recommending the Boett and associated products to those with Sweet Itch problems who are still unaware of your sterling services. PS Casper has now taken on the title of Sir as many have commented that he looks as if he is ready for the Joust in his Hood and Boett! Best Wishes Stephanie and an itch-less Casper.

The blanket I ordered yesterday arrived rural Inverness-shire lunchtime today - brilliant service. This morning a horse driven demented by clouds of midges had to huddle in her shelter. I would like to say a big thank you for the Boett rug. I bought one this year for April, my 9 year old IDxTB mare who has suffered from sweet itch for the last couple of years. After trying almost everything else on the market I decided to buy one after recommendation from 2 friends. It's made all the difference! April is much happier in the field now and seems to make no attempt to scratch on the trees when she is wearing it. She doesn't need a hood at the moment as she only used to scratch her mane and tail but I will be back for one if she ever starts! Once again a huge thank you from Tracey & April.

I just had to write to say how pleased I am and my Shetland Horace is with his Boett rug.I ordered it 9.30 Monday morning and it arrived 11.00 Tuesday! The results are brill! after a good bath Horace was fitted with it, much to everyones amusement! He looked a bit strange at first, his field companion even thought he was a bit scarey, but what a difference it has made, no more continual rubbing on anything and everything, no more running around the field trying desperatley to escape the midges. He is always lovely and clean which is most unlike him. His coat is healthy and shinny and his mane and tail perfect. We did have an accident the first night he wore it though,he came in the next morning having lost a buckle and completly ripped off a belly strap! but all was saved with a needle an cotton! I have already recommended it too two friends who have also purchased one. So a big thank you from me and Horace! xxx

03 May 2004

Hi! My name is Catherine Morris and I just want to thank you so much for tranforming my pony. He is called Pip and he is in his late 20s. I started looking after him about 3 years ago, because he was being neglected. I found him by accident when I was visiting one of my friends ponies. He was standing in the corner of the field trying hopelessly to buck the midgies away. Pip has severe sweet itch. Probably the worst a horse can get. He had weeping and nasty sores all over his body. From his head to his tail. It was dreadful and must have been so painful for him. I tried every lotion and potion avaliable, but nothing seemed to work. It was also very expensive and my pocket money can only stretch so far. I was really upset, because he was still covered in these awful sores and was very sad. There was actually a track at the bottom of the field made by him pacing up and down trying to get away from the midgies. I found out about your Boett Blanket from my mum. She found the leaflet at a local saddle shop. I saved up all year to buy one of your blankets. After a few weeks the sores had gone and new hair started to grow on his body. I was so happy I cried. The little sparkle in his eyes returned and after a summer being loved, spoilt rotten and of course wearing your super blanket I was getting to know the old Pip that had been lost. This summer will be his third summer wearing it and he keeps improving every time he wears it. It's got to the point where I can actually plait his tail and mane!!! Pip has become quite a celebrity around the stables and local livery yards as people are curious why he has to wear the blanket. If I take him out for a walk I always meet someone who used to know him when he was younger and are amazed at his transformation. I even got told his life story once by a man who cared for him out of kindness when he was younger while Pip munched on the grass. I found out he had been neglected since he was young so that's a long time to cope with Sweet Itch. Now that he has me and the blanket his remaining years look much rosier. Thank you so much. Best regards
  Catherine Morris (aged 16)

Just to send a great big THANKS. I ordered the blanket and hood yesterday, Monday 26th April, and today, 27th April, 10.30a.m., Gypsy is wearing her "must have this season" fashion accessory! On a more serious note, the rug fits brilliantly, the fitting instructions are easily understood and the delivery was exemplary. Thank you once again, Carole and Gypsy,

Thank you very much for the blanket and hood that I bought from you in August, my Shetland had horrendous bald patches when I bought her which were bleeding and cracked and in a right mess. She had no hair on the top 6” of her tail and no mane. I had tried various lotions and potions, which didn’t work, so this was my last hope. After about 3-4 weeks she stopped itching herself and very soon her hair started to grow back. I have now removed the blanket for the winter and the difference in her is unbelievable, her tail is growing back nicely although it does look like a toilet brush at the moment and her mane is now about 3” long and she has absolutely no bald patches anywhere on her body. She is now quite a cheeky little pony and full of fun whereas before she was very subdued and uninterested in anything around her. Thank you so much for a wonderful product that works.

Rosie is a wonderful RDA pony for our riders at The Elisabeth Curtis Centre for Disabled Riders. For many years she has suffered with sweet itch. Last summer was miserable for her. This year we received a donation to buy her a Boett blanket. The change in her condition has been remarkable. She has remained free from the condition throughout the summer. The blanket really does what it claims to do!! johnjudy@btopenworld.com

I would like you to know what a success the Boett rug has been for my Exmoor pony ‘Bright as a Button’. Her sweet itch was so severe that the vet felt that we should consider having her put down. Buttons has actually enjoyed this summer due to her Boett rug and other products from the sweet itch helpline - shampoo etc. Thanks to having her sweet itch under control she is ridden regularly by both my son and myself, she has been to three shows and her manners have improved thanks to breaking the cycle of constant scratching. veronica@globalnet.co.uk

Earlier this year I purchased a Boett Blanket for my Shetland pony who suffered terribly last year with Sweet Itch. I would like to thank you, as this year she has had the happiest summer ever! Her mane is quite long now and she has a beautiful shiny coat. The only area she has managed to rub was the top of her mane as she learnt to pull the neck cover back, but only rubbed slightly and didn’t cause any breaks to the skin.

I just thought you might like to see the difference the Boett Blanket has made to Minty this year [photos enclosed] I ordered the blanket in March after sending you a picture and a quick discussion on the phone with you to confirm sizing etc. The blanket arrived in the post the next day and it didn’t take long for the pair of us to get the hang of it. Mints lives on her own so there was no need for her field friends to get used to her in her new attire. It wasn’t long before I ordered a face hood and she has worn them since the day they arrived. I ride her in the morning before I go to work and she works well with her blanket left on and it really only comes off for a bath with the shampoo that I ordered at the same time. The pictures are before and at a Condition and Turnout show where we gained 82% of the marks — not enough to be placed but, wow, she had a mane that I managed to plait — I’ve always had her mane hogged. She still finds a tree to have a scratch on, but more habit I think. The blanket has put up with a lot from her and has had the odd repair here and there — both by sewing machine and by hand — the extra material you send has come in handy. I must admit I was not fully convinced that this blanket would be so good. However, when I ordered it I did pass on your information to those people whose horses also suffer. The result is a happy horse and an owner who thinks it was money well invested. Many thanks Michele Collins, Wrotham Kent

A few months ago I purchased my first Boett Blanket. My horse is a 16-year-old Cleveland Bay mare and she has suffered all her life. Twice she has had to have steroid injections due to open sores that would not heal. I am very pleased to confirm the success of the blanket, which was immediate. Although I was warned about barbed wire I can say there is not a mark on the blanket, which has been removed twice (on windy days) to wash. Saffie is a very contented horse now and when all the other horses are stamping legs and shaking heads she is quite contentedly grazing. She has an amazing coat, a full mane and her tail is now growing back thick and healthy, with no scurfy dandruff. For the first time ever I have a happy, healthy horse. I did hesitate before ordering as the cost of the blanket was a lot to pay not knowing the outcome. I can now say that it is the best £165 I have ever spent. I would urge other owners to ‘splash out’ and enjoy the peace of mind it gives you. Many thanks,

I am sending this email to say a very big thank you for the Boett Rug. I have owned Jonjo my 20 year old Welsh Section D for 5 years and he has suffered with sweet itch all of that time, I have tried sprays, lotions & feed supplements, all to no avail (they sometimes gave short relief to his itching). I rang your help line 2 weeks ago in desperation, and ordered a Boett Rug, it arrived the next day as promised, was fitted that evening.....................and I now have a happy horse that is not itching, the sores along his tummy & up his mane are all healed, just scars now which are fading, no rubbing his tail or mane and he trots out to his field a very happy little chappy each evening. So from Jonjo & myself a HUGE "THANK YOU"

I am writing to let you know that I no longer require Sweet Itch News to be sent to me as I have sold my “itchy” horse. I will be emigrating to Africa in the next few months and hopefully the “joys” of sweet itch will not follow me there! I found the Boett rug to be the only thing that stopped my horse itching and allowed her to grow a full mane and tail. It is an excellent product that I recommend to anyone who asks me. Also the service you provide with regard to replacement clips etc is excellent. I wish you well in the continuing fight against sweet itch.

Frieda Bruck Email Bruckzim@aol.com Lewis is starting his second summer with his Boett. The blanket has been a literal lifesaver for him. He suffered intensely from a hyperallergic response to mosquito bites and, after trying everything else on the market, I came across the Boett Website. The blanket was our last hope--and it worked! Although Lewis had some residual itchiness for several weeks, the sores he had bitten and rubbed raw began to heal within days. His blanket fared well with his pasture antics and is back in place this year with hardly a snag. He wraps the strap on his hood around branches and pulls it off, so he is hood-free at least until I find another way to keep it attached. Thanks for making this great product! I recommend it to everyone who mentions a mosquito problem (especially with the prevalence of the West Nile Virus which mosquitoes here carry). Best wishes, Minnesota, USA

Hi, Just wanted to check in and tell ye how the Boett is doing. I have an itchless horse, without fitting the hood, and use the ointment on his ears and inside thighs. He has ripped it in several places, and even severed the elastic on the belly guard, but nothing that couldn't be repaired. I had to put his mesh rug on overnight while I got the Boett repaired, and he was itchy again straight away. Could you send me two tubs of the ointment please, maximum size. That should get me through the summer hopefully. Many thanks

Dear Mrs & Mr Greaves, Two months ago I ordered a Boett-blanket for my shetland pony. The results are amazing, just like you promised on your website. I would now like to order the hood as well as also head and ears are severely being attacked. Pony is ± 1.05 m and has a relatively tiny head. The size 1 you send me for the blanket fits perfectly. Can you tell me in advance what the price is? Thanks a lot

Having purchased my first Boett Blanket 2 weeks ago, I must tell you of the amazing change to my 6 year old 15.3hh Hackney mare. She suffers from awful sweet-itch from March through to almost December. Last year was the worst she ever suffered so I made up my mind to buy one. After taking both me and my partner 25 minutes to work out how to initially put it on I was amazed that it started working straightaway. Chelsea stopped biting and stamping and its gone on from there. I crept up on her field on Sunday and she was lying down. She has never done that, always pacing the field, scratching, rubbing, biting, kicking (which has caused some serious injuries to herself). She now grazes and has relaxed 100%. THANK YOU BOETT heidi.dickason@paymaster.co.uk

Please find an order for another of your wonderful rugs. Pippin has now outgrown her size 2 rug. I would also like a Boett Hood for her. With this rug we were able to have a great show season and won the Great Yorkshire Show 2002. We are looking forward to another great year. Thank you for making it possible.

I wanted to say thank you for the happiness that my Boett rug has brought my Friesian mare and I. She has the most beautiful thick and full tail and her mane is looking lovely. She also knows this as she practically climbs into it herself! Thank you stephshannon125@hotmail.com

Thank you so much - we have loads of midges and an itch free pony, she is so happy to wear this rug and enjoy her time in the field. Life has never been so comfortable for her. Thanks again from Rosie the Shetland, Chichester

My name is Claire Roberts and I purchased a Boett Blanket from you around this time last year for my pony, Shadow. We would like to let you know how pleased we both are with our purchase, as Shadow had a midge free summer, and I was able to stop worrying about her. All the horses on our yard with sweet itch have been helped by the blanket and we all recommend them to anyone else without hesitation.Shadow wasn't even upset when her field mates were terrified of her in her new outfit as she was so relieved to be midge free. However, as she is getting older, her condition is increasing in severity and so I intend to purchase the matching hood to complete the look this year.

Would it be possible to send a second 'raincoat' sometime in the next month?? We are absolutely delighted with the first one - the only "New Zealand" type I have ever come across that doesn't rub at all. Pony No. 2 has asked for one for Christmas! Same size, address,Visa etc. Thank you,

03 November 2002

The Boett Blanket has been a godsend to my Fell gelding. He developed sweet-itch for the first time last Autumn and rubbed most of his mane out and the top of his tail was red raw. I tried every wonder potion on the market trying to avoid the seemingly high cost of a Boett (which by the way my vet advised as the only way he knew of controlling sweet-itch). Finally came to my senses this Spring when once again all the potions failed. Within days of the Boett going on, Blackberry stopped rolling and went back to his calm usual self. His mane has nearly grown back to its former length and once again he looks a splendid jet black shiny fellow when we ride out. Only the tiniest amount of damage to the rug after months of constant wear which has been repaired easily and quickly with some of the spare material provided. Now realise that the Boett is not expensive! A wonderful service from extremely nice, knowledgable and friendly people. By the way I managed to get the cost of the blanket from my insurance company. They bucked like heck to begin with but finally conceded.

03 November 2002

I bought my mare 2 years ago, she came with every problem you could imagine, sweet itch being one of them, as we weren't told by the previous owners. When spring came we were utterly suprised to find her rubbing away the hair on her mane, tail and shoulders so much so that she was totally unridable, we spent the summer piling gallons of lotions and potions onto her trying to ease the pain she was in, the vet was called out several times and she was put on various medications, none of which seemed to make much difference, she was inside 100% of the time and we were seriously concidering what we should do with her. I saw the ad in "Your Horse" for the Boett blanket and saved enough money that winter to afford one in the spring, now its autumn and my mare has lived out happily all summer, she has been shown (with a lovely, full, plaited tail and mane) and has been competing regularly at local events. Next year we hope to take her affilliated eventing and its all thaks to Boett, without a Boett blankett my mare would not have been with us today, THANK YOU!!!

30 October 2002

Just had to say a big thank you from me and particularly my pony Towser who had his first Boett blanket this year. I can't believe the difference it has made to him. We are infested with midges at the best of time here in Scotland but this year has been particularly bad. Towser soon took to his blanket and for the first time in his life (approx. 27 ) he has been keen to leave his field stable and able to graze without being pestered. His coat is wonderful for an old boy and he seems a changed character. He is without doubt a veryhappy pony now. I removed the coat when we had a brief spell of cold weather and I thought the midges had gone. However a few days later they emerged again and I decided to put the blanket back on. Towser knew exactly what it was for and seemed so pleased to have it back on again. Hopefully the midges will go in November. If we have a mild winter then maybe Towser will have to have it on during the winter. Many, many thanks Helen Worsley

27 September 2002

Hi all, Just thought you might like to know about a sweet itch success story. I bought Henry, a Welsh section D, two years ago. It was October and the previous owner assured me that the scurfy skin was just because he hadn't been groomed much - but sure enough the next spring it was plain that it was a bad case of sweet itch! Henry lost most of his mane and half of his tail with his incessant rubbing, no matter how many lotions, potions, powders and sprays I applied. I heard about the Boett blanket over the winter and as soon as spring arrived this year I was armed with two blankets and Henry has had a brilliant year. No rubbing, no itching, mane and tail have grown and last weekend we won the Voice Products Novice Horse/Pony title at the National Carriage Driving Championships at Windsor! He has been a different pony in terms of temperament (much more laid back) and the added bonus of the blanket has been that it keeps his coat clean and shiny and I don't have to apply tail bandages etc for travelling! He has worn a blanket day and night since March and now even helps me to put it on him! All my friends who laughed at him at the beginning of the year are now asking about the blanket for their own horses! So thanks Boett, you have made a young pony and an owner very happy!

25 September 2002

Dear All. I purchased a Boett Blanket from you this summer after buying my new 15hh horse; I was told that he had rubbed his tail because he had come over from Ireland. I believed this for a couple of weeks - until I was horrified to find that his tail was nearly bare to the dock, his dock was red raw and all he did was rub against the stable wall when I bought him from the field - his tail was disappearing fast. A friend told me about the Boett blanket, after I had spent weeks using different shampoos, potions, fly rugs - I spent a fortune, then I decided to give the Boett a try. I can honestly say that his tail has grown back and is now restored to its former glory. I will be continuing to use the Boett blanket every year, and I recommend it to everyone whose horse / pony has sweet-itch. I have just asked you for extra brochures that I have given to my local tack shop who will also be recommending it to people.

Just to say a big thank you for my Boett blanket, which I received on Saturday for my Shetland Pony Ella. It fits perfectly and she is very happy wearing it. Already after 2 days she is totally different, a lot calmer and the endless tail swishing and pacing about has stopped. Thanks again for your help, advice and excellent service.

21 July 2002

Hello, my name is Sarah Thorp. I am now well into my second Boett rug. It has made an amazing difference to the quality of life for my horse and both she and I cannot sing the rug's praises enough. So great has my enthusiasm of its success been that in fact the local Vet's now refer the owners of suffering horses to me, which I am very happy for them to do, as I remember my despair when I thought nothing could be done to alleviate Bella's itching. They come and visit us telling familiar tails of all the lotions, potions and stable routines they have tried in vain. I tell them all I can and after a good look at the rug and a demonstration of actually putting it on the horse they invariably contact you. The point of this e-mail is that I have now given away all the spare literature that I had, so please can you send me some more. I expect the four people I have seen so far definitely wont’ be the last!
Sarah Thorp and a grateful "Bella"

20 July 2002

Hi Rebecca, thanks for all your help. Let me tell you, my Friesian mare has had her Boett blanket on for almost 4 days now. This morning I took it off and brushed her and she didn't have any bumps, no skin irritations, no hives...nothing! She had rubbed a little fur off on her neck, but that was from before and that is it. She has lost nothing else and all her flakes of dry irritated skin are GONE! She is as smooth as she was before this terrible thing started. A little panic set in when the first night she came in with the blanket, there was a little hole from where she must of scratched on a tree, but I got a lot of extra material in case. But that was only the first day and the scratching has almost come to a halt. I can't thank you enough for turning me on to this miracle blanket. I will be forever grateful and so won't my Friesian, Gabriella who will finally after 6 years be able to keep her beautiful mane and tail!

My Arabian has Sweet Itch and I used to spend a lot of money on products I hoped would help, but didn't. A friend of mine told me of a blanket that covered the horse all over, so I decided that I would try. It works!!! Now I see no pain in my horse’s eyes. And her main and tail is growing back! What a joy!! THANKS!

I have recently purchased a pony with sweetitch. She has been wearing a Boett rug for 4 years now with her previous owner with excellent results. However her rug is now showing real signs of wear! I would like to order a new one. Thank you

04 July 2002

I would just like to add to the consumer feedback, I was surprised but reassured at reading that another owner had seriously considered having her horse put down due to the suffering caused by sweet itch. I was in the same situation last year after being evicted from a livery yard, due to the damage my pony had done to the fencing. I was at the end of my tether (and bank balance!) at trying to help my pony who was very depressed and going mad with itching, he had bleeding sores and very little hair on his body I couldn’t sleep at night worrying over his future. Luckily for us both I discovered the blanket and it is his lifeline. Thank you for giving me my pony back!!

Recently received my first new blanket in years. Many great improvements on the old one. My horse and I thank you for this product, her life is now liveable and I know I have done the best I can for her.

22 May 2002

Having tried everything - and I mean everything - as a last resort I purchased the rug with some trepidation - in case it was shredded by my pony. However the difference is amazing rather than being stabled and miserable - he is now back out at grass and doing things that ponies do. Much better for his health - physical and mental. I am an experienced horse owner and spent 10 years trying to control this problem - I wish I had bought the rug sooner. Back on the site to order a hood!

23 April 2002

Hi, I just thought I'd drop you a line to say how thrilled I am with my new Boett blanket. I really thought I was never going to find a product which actually does what it says it does and gives my pony comfort from the plague of biting flies. I have tried numerous things including other brands fly sheets etc all to no avail and a complete waste of hard earned money. What a breath of fresh air this blanket is, my horse is so different already, he seems much calmer and content. He does not suffer sweet-itch as such, although the vets seem to think he has a similar allergy (his tail hair drops out, although he does not scrub) he is just badly effected by flies, he comes out in lumps, bleeding etc and he always seems to attract the largest swarm possible. Thank you for letting me and Drummer enjoy the warmer weather. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed he doesn't shred it!!! Thanks again Sarah & Drummer

Our 7 year old part hackney Pip was going through hell and very grumpy until the arrival of her boett. Within moments of putting it on, she was transformed into a calm affectionate pony. She is so clearly much happier and we're so happy for her. Thank you so much Boett.

13 April 2002

I would just like to thank you for sending me the Boett blanket, we received it last week. "Harriet" was fine having it going over her head which I was a bit concerned about. But I needn't have worried. She is happy in it and we are thrilled as we have our life back. As before we had to turn her out after 9a.m. which is difficult with work committments, and bringing her back in no later than 4p.m. I am going out for the day today without having to worry about rushing back. She is also calmer with staying out with all her friends, instead of having to be shut in. It is also better for her mother "Lulu" as she used to have to come in to keep her company or Harriet would call all night. We always worried that they would develop vices in the stable due to being shut in for 17 hours a day, now we dont have to worry. Therefore a very huge T H A N K Y O U!!!! from Harriet & Lulu, and of course myself and my family.

28 March 2002

I bought my first Boett rug 3 years ago after spending one miserable autumn with my newly bought cob. We bought Ivor in September when he had a loo brush mane and was described as having 'mild' sweet itch, the vet advised us not to buy him. But, when you fall for a horse you have to buy it so on we went! When we got him home I was looking forward to my first ride out and went to tack up, only to find that I could not get near his head with the bridle. His ears were so sore that he no longer would let anyone near them. After two weeks of constant battles with creams to ease the pain we got the bridle on and for the next 6 months I rode with no noseband or browband as they caused him so much irritation. The following spring, when the symptoms reappeared, I bought a Boett rug on the off chance that it would work - and it did!! This was after spending extreme amounts of money on 'miracle' creams and cures. Ivor has now had his rug for 3 seasons and it is only now getting a bit worse for wear, I am just going to measure him up for a new one!
